Girard Public Library will be hosting Phil S. Dixon on Saturday, March 22nd at 12:00 pm for a presentation about Pitcher Frank Wickware. Phil will also be doing a presentation and discussion of “The Kansas City Monarchs and America’s National Pastime.”
Everyone is invited to attend this free program! The program is made possible by Humanities Kansas.
Frank Wickware was born in Girard on March 18th, 1888 and later moved to Coffeyville. He was a pitcher in the Negro Leagues from 1910-1920 and was inducted into the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame in 2011.
